Refund Policy
Last updated: 1 August 2026
You can try SoloDesks for as long as you like without paying anything — the free plan needs no card and has no expiry date. If you do upgrade to Pro and it turns out not to be for you, you should not be stuck with it because you clicked a button on a Tuesday.
14 days, no questions
Ask within 14 days of your first Pro payment and you get all of it back. You do not have to give a reason, you do not have to justify how much you used it, and nobody will try to talk you out of it. One email is the whole process.
What this covers
SoloDesks sells one paid thing: the Pro subscription, at £12 a month. This policy is about that payment and nothing else, because there is nothing else — the free plan, the calculators and the templates cost nothing, and there are no setup fees, no add-ons and no minimum term to buy out of.
A refund returns the full amount you were charged, including any VAT or sales tax added at checkout. It is not pro-rated and not reduced for the days you used Pro.
How to ask
Email support@solodesks.com from the address on your account and say you would like a refund. That is enough. If you are writing from a different address, include the one you sign in with so the account can be found.
There is no form, no cancellation flow to click through and no retention offer waiting at the end of it. The email is read by the person who builds SoloDesks, not a queue.
How the money comes back
Payments for SoloDesks are handled by Paddle as the merchant of record. Paddle took the payment, so Paddle issues the refund, back to the same card or PayPal account it came from. It cannot be sent anywhere else, which is deliberate: it is the same reason SoloDesks never holds money on anyone’s behalf.
Paddle sends the refund on the day it is approved. How long it takes to show up after that is your bank’s timetable rather than ours — usually a few days, occasionally up to about ten. You will get a confirmation email from Paddle when it goes out, and that email is your receipt for it.
Cancelling and refunding are different things
Cancelling stops the next payment. Pro carries on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then the account drops to the free plan. Nothing is refunded, because nothing is being given back — you keep the time you bought.
A refund is the other option: the money goes back and Pro ends. If what you want is the money rather than the remaining weeks, say so in the email, otherwise a cancellation is what you will get.
Either way, your work is never deleted. Going back to the free plan restores its monthly limits, and every client, quote, invoice, job and photo stays exactly where it was.
After the first 14 days
Monthly renewals are not automatically refundable. Pro is £12 a month with no contract, so the cost of a month you did not want is capped at a month, and cancelling before the next renewal date is what prevents it.
That said, a renewal that genuinely caught you out — you had stopped using it, you meant to cancel, the email went to spam — is worth an email. There is no guarantee attached to that sentence, which is why it is not printed in bold above. It is just true that a request like that gets read by a person with the authority to say yes.
The exceptions
- Free Pro months. A launch promo or a hand-granted month costs nothing, so there is nothing to refund when it ends. It simply stops.
- The free plan. No payment, no refund. It is a plan, not a trial, and it does not expire.
- Accounts closed for breaking the Terms of Service. Sending spam or fraudulent invoices through SoloDesks ends the account without a refund. This has never been needed and is here so that it is written down.
- Money your own clients owe you. SoloDesks creates and chases invoices; it never holds the payments. A customer who has not paid your invoice is a matter between you and them — the guide to getting paid is the useful thing we have for that.
Please ask before you dispute
If you see a charge you do not recognise or did not want, email first. A refund takes one reply; a chargeback takes weeks, freezes the account while the bank works through it, and ends in the same place. There is no version of this where asking gets you less than disputing would.
Your legal rights
The 14 days above are a promise from SoloDesks, not a restatement of the law, and they are offered on top of whatever rights you already have. Nothing on this page limits or replaces those rights, including any statutory cancellation rights that apply to you, and Paddle’s own buyer terms apply to the checkout itself.
This is not legal advice, and SoloDesks is not a legal or accounting service — the same caveat that runs through the Terms of Service.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the page and the date at the top change with it. The terms that apply to a payment are the ones published on the day it was taken, so a change here can never make an existing refund window shorter than the one you bought under.
Common questions
- Can I get a refund on SoloDesks Pro?
- Yes. If you ask within 14 days of your first Pro payment, you get all of it back, no reason needed. Email support@solodesks.com from the address on your account.
- How long does a refund take to arrive?
- Paddle is the merchant of record for SoloDesks, so the refund is issued by Paddle back to the card or PayPal account that paid. Paddle sends it the same day it is approved; how long it then takes to appear is your bank's business, usually within about ten days.
- Is cancelling the same as a refund?
- No. Cancelling stops the next payment and leaves Pro running until the end of the period you have already paid for. A refund gives the money back and ends Pro. If you want the money back rather than the remaining time, say so in the email.
- Do I lose my quotes and invoices if I get a refund?
- No. Nothing you have created is ever deleted for downgrading. The account drops to the free plan's monthly limits and every client, quote, invoice and job stays exactly where it was.
