Free plasterer quote template
A free quote template for plasterers, visible in full below, downloadable as a PDF, no signup asked. It says whether you are skimming over or re-boarding, what happens if the wall underneath is blown, and how long the finish needs before anyone paints it. That last line is what stops a decorator's delay turning into your fault.

What a plasterer's quote must include
- Your business name and contact details (and logo, if you have one)
- A quote number and the date
- The client's name and the job address
- Itemised lines: each piece of work and each material, with its price
- The total, and whether VAT (or your local sales tax) is included
- How long the price holds, where 30 days is standard
- What's excluded, stated plainly
- Deposit and payment terms, so the money conversation happens before the work
- How long to leave the finish before decorating, so a customer who has booked a decorator for the next morning knows whose diary is at fault
Tips from the trade
- Say whether you are skimming over or re-boarding, and what happens if the wall underneath turns out to be blown. That is the single most common reason a plastering price moves.
- Put drying time in writing. A customer who books a decorator for the morning after you finish will blame you for the delay, and a line saying how long to leave it costs you nothing today.
- State who clears the room and lifts the carpet. Half a day spent moving somebody's furniture is half a day you did not price.
- Price whole rooms by the job and patching by the day. Nobody can honestly say how long a chase-out takes until the plaster is off the wall.
Common questions
- Should I quote plastering by the room or by the day?
- By the room or the job when you can see the whole thing, because a fixed price is what a customer compares and accepts. By the day for patching, chasing out and anything behind an existing surface, where honestly nobody knows the hours until it is open. A quote can carry both, and saying why each line is priced the way it is makes the day-rate line look like judgement rather than hedging.
- How long should the quote say to leave plaster before painting?
- Most plasterers write five to seven days for a skim and longer for a re-board, and it genuinely depends on ventilation, thickness and the time of year, so say what it depends on rather than giving a flat promise. The reason it belongs on the quote rather than in conversation is that the customer has usually already booked the decorator by the time they ask.
- Quote or estimate: which should I send?
- A quote is a fixed price for defined work; an estimate is an informed guess that can move. Customers prefer quotes, so quote whenever the scope is knowable and keep the genuinely unknown out as a stated exclusion or provisional line.
- How long should my quote stay valid?
- Thirty days is the common default. Shorten it when material prices are moving, and say so on the quote. A validity window also gives an undecided customer a gentle reason to stop drifting.
